In Lover, Cruel Summer shows she’s bitter about the need for secrecy. In folklore’s Peace, Taylor is changing her view of this secrecy again by romanticising it and speaking to its inherent intimacy. In Red TV, we are back to a bitterness about this secrecy - “you kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath.” Finally, we end with Dear Reader - “the greatest of luxuries is your secrets” - here Taylor concludes that secrets are a rare, expensive, valuable thing in her life that bring her comfort.
