<aside> 🌈 Queer Relevance: the nature of a lot of the archetypal LGBTQ+ experience is grappling with one’s relationship to the “fate” of their sexuality/gender identity. One examples of this is trying to “pray the gay away” or change one’s sexuality in order to conform to the Christian, hetero-normative ideals of society. Another is the process of accepting one’s “fate”, speaking in ways such as “it wasn’t a choice”. Chappell Roan, when speaking about her song “Good Luck Babe” says that the song is speaking to someone who is “denying fate” (that they’re not a straight woman).
